Kennedy’s Cafe Bar, No 1 Little Stonegate, York

We decided to try Kennedy’s today for a spot of lunch. Entering through the main door the first thing that hits you is the sweet smell of Cif. Having read other reviews, this is not an uncommon experience. Anyway after arguing over where to sit, we soon settled down and ordered our lunch. Dusty opting for a Thai Beef Curry with myself choosing the Beef Pie. Our drinks arrived very quickly and we browsed the free newspapers and took in the surroundings while we waited. The staff are friendly and a number of them are quite cute. Dressed mainly in black they are attentive and generally professional. I’m sure someone with a bit of vision could turn this into a great gay bar.

The food arrived and was well presented. Not your usual fair, but cooked with some thought and the odd nice touch. The mushy peas with chilli’s were beautiful.

If you are looking for a nice spot of lunch away from the tourists then this place is a gem.
